Recent Reads

A few more good books I’ve read recently…I’m on the lookout for more to add to my reading list if anyone has suggestions…

This week

Fell behind on a picture a day (I’ll blame my still hectic work schedule)…I scanned my phone and realized I hardly even took any phone photos this week!

1.18 - We had some friends over this weekend for dinner and I was able to break out a new platter I got from my parents for Christmas.

1.20 – I opened up a late Christmas package my parents sent over today that was filled with all sorts of fun fishing tackle.  Now I just hope Joel and I can catch some fish with it!

This morning we woke up to a thick frost covering the whole neighborhood.  The grass was beautiful and I was able to capture it as the sun came out and slowly started melting the frost away.

I am just going to have to accept the fact that there will be some days that I completely forget to take a picture, and by the time I’m lying in bed, I’ll realize I haven’t yet posted.  Luckily I often take random low quality, uncreative pictures on my phone and will occasionally end up sharing those.

Here is a snapshot from my desk today of the plant that has grown out of the avocado pit I planted several months ago…this is my view for 10-12 hours a day…pretty isn’t is??

Excited to maybe have time this weekend to finish up my project with this beauties…

A day late for Epiphany (I’ll blame my weekend work schedule), but I still wanted to share the beautiful wise men that I received for Christmas (thanks Roxann!).

Yes, I did wear slippers to the office today.  I’m saying it was okay, since it was my 5th day of 13-14 hour days in a row.

Love ending the day curled up with a good book (especially after a 13 hour Saturday workday)

Oh Christmas Tree…

Joel and I started a family tradition of picking up a Christmas ornament everywhere we travel.  We try to pick things that aren’t necessarily “Christmassy” but that are unique to our trip or experience.  We’ve been lucky enough to gather up quite the collection of fun ornaments over the past few years.  Every time we pull our our box of ornaments to decorate our tree, we are able to relive all of the fun times we’ve had on our travels.

I’m getting the last few days of enjoyment out of our tree this year before we have to take it down and pack away all of our treasures until next year.

Cuppa tea

There’s nothing quite like curling up on the couch after a long day at the office with a cup of tea and a good book laptop.  This mug is a fought-over favorite in our house.  One of my awesome college roommates was an art major and spent a lot of time in the art building working on her pottery…I’m so lucky that she decided to share this masterpiece with me (I doubt she realized all those years ago that it would still be getting near-daily use)!

A New Year

A new year is upon us, and I am so excited about all of the adventures that we will get to experience over the next 12 months.  I’ve never been a big resolutions person, but the blank slate that lies ahead is so exciting and so full of possibility.

Anyone that knows me knows how excited I get about new “school supplies” so this week Joel indulged the child in me and went shopping with me for a new planner (and of course, some new colored pens!).  I have high hopes of using this magic little planner to keep our lives a little more organized….we’ll see how that works out!

Yellowstone (day 3)

(Catch up on Day 1 & Day 2 if you missed them!)

With a few days (mostly) off from work over the Christmas holiday, I was able to catch up on some picture-editing from the past few months.  Here are a few more pictures from day 3 of our Yellowstone trip in the fall.
